Is boxing good for fitness ?

Boxing is one of the best forms of exercise as you are moving constantly from the beginning of a round to the end. There are no time-outs or breaks and you are working vigorously in all three energy systems. It has maximum aerobic and anaerobic conditioning components.

Is boxing just a sport for the rough & tough type of person?

No-way! The Serious-Fitness boxing instructor course is suitable for any age group, men and women of all levels of fitness or ability. Boxing is one of the most popular fitness trends out there and if you are after a stronger, leaner, toned body, this is for you.

Is boxing fitness interesting?

Without a shadow of a doubt! Scrap any visions of standing there hitting a punch bag by yourself. Boxing can consist of working in a class environment or 1-to-1 on the focus pads. After this course, we are sure you will continue to love and participate in boxing in one form or another for the rest of your lives. What benefits will I see? Weight loss, muscle tone, building of confidence, developing mind and body skills, increase of agility/balance timing, co-ordination and an increase in fitness levels.

Is boxing mainly just an arm workout?

No. Boxing works your whole body. When a punch is thrown the power is generated through the body. All the arm does is deliver the punch, so it is an exceptionally good, full body workout.

Is there a high risk of injury?

No. Serious-Fitness teaches you the proper boxing techniques, so our courses are designed to support the fitness and exercise industry. A low risk of injury is our priority.

I have an old or underlying injury, will this course affect it?

This question is impossible to answer without speaking to you, please feel free to contact us.

Will I get hurt?

The risk is low on our courses, as there is minimal contact. Outside of our courses please be sure when attending a class to check that the teacher is qualified to teach boxing and has adequate insurance.

I've never boxed in my life is this a problem?

No, boxing is all about technique and this is what you will learn from the very beginning on our courses.

Is being overweight a problem?

Definitely not. We encourage people with excess weight to do our courses, as boxing is a lot easier form of exercise to perform than running for most people.

Is boxing fun?

Most definitely and interesting too. Shadow-Box adds variation to your training, is social, challenging, easy to learn and enjoyable.
